Plone Conference 2023

We wholeheartedly welcome you!

The annual conference is a chance for the Plone community to come together and share new developments, success stories, interesting technical insights and thougts about the future of the software and the community.

Taking place over 7 days, the conference will feature training classes, keynotes, talks, open spaces, sprints and social activities.

This year’s conference will be hosted in Eibar, Basque Country, from October 2 to 8.

Located in the heart of the Basque Country, you will find Eibar welcomes you with its warm atmosphere and a lifely streets.

Eibar

Eibar has always been closely linked to the industry. For centuries it has been one of the industrial neuralgic centers in Gipuzkoa, largely thanks to its weapon production, which has earned it the nickname of "Gunsmith city".

The local Ams Industry Museum displays the recent history of that industry and all related ancillary jobs.
In the 20th century, Eibar went from the arms industry to diversify its activity, recovering land from the surrounding mountains with ingenious solutions that can still be seen on its streets today.

Eibar is 15 km away (30 min. train) from the sea (Deba) and about 50 km away from Bilbao and San Sebastian.

Venue

The Coliseo Theather, owned by the City Council, is the venue that will be hosting the Conference Talks. Used as a concert-hall and cinema, it has a big plennary hall that can acommodate up to 500 people and two smaller cinema rooms suitable for 70 people each.

Eibar is strategically located and is easily accessible via public transport from the surrounding towns and cities. It is also a city fully accessible on foot.

Trainings and sprint venue

The Markeskua Palace is a renaissance noble house where the Basque Summer University has its headquarters since 2000.

It has several rooms perfectly suited for our training and sprint needs, and a beautiful garden where we can relax having coffee or lunch.

The Basque Summer University has recently renewed its website using Volto and they are long-time Plone and other python technologies users.
